The Princess of Wales has been inundated with messages of support since revealing her cancer diagnosis.

And among those sending their love to her is 80s popstar and actor Martin Kemp, who has shared a sweet never-before-seen family snap on Instagram showing Kate alongside him, his wife Shirlie and children, the presenter Roman Kemp and daughter Harley Moon. Kate posed for the photo alongside the family of four when she visited them at their home in Hertfordshire last year to make a video alongside Roman for her early years campaign, Shaping Us. In the snap, all five of them smile for the camera as mum Shirlie holds the family dog. Martin wrote as he shared the photo: "Sending so much Kemp love to the Princess of Wales and all her Family."

Kate teamed up with Roman after he starred in a hard-hitting documentary which explored the male suicide crisis after the death of his close friend and colleague Joe Lyons. After it aired on the BBC, Kate got in touch and they agreed to meet at his family home to make a video for her campaign.

In that video, the pair sat down to chat over tea, as Roman talked about his childhood but recognised that bringing up children can be "so difficult" due to the cost of living and the financial difficulties facing many. Kate told him: "Absolutely. And this is the thing, every family is different - and the pressures that we all face are different. While raising the importance of early childhood, this isn't about putting extra pressure on families, it's actually saying they need the support and help reprioritising family life, home life and all that it takes in raising children today because it is tough.

"The relationships in a family or surrounding that child are so important. The environment in which you bring up a child is important as is the experiences you engage them in. It's not about the number of toys they've got or the number of trips you go on with them. It's just making sure they have the right emotional support around them that comes from the adults in their lives."

Meanwhile, afterwards Roman said there was one thing Kate did when she visited the family home that "really stuck in my head". Speaking to The Times, he explained: "We had a Zoom call, just her and me. And she was like, 'Oh, you know, I can come over to your place and do it there [film a video].'

"And I just said, 'No, let's go to my parents'. It's a bigger house. I don't want to bring royalty to a flat in Vauxhall." He added: "We were sitting at the kitchen counter, with my mum and dad and my sister with all the dogs, and Kate was there with us. The funniest thing was she didn't have any shoes on because she was respectful enough to take her shoes off at the door. That really stuck in my head because you never see royalty with no shoes."

Kate, 42, revealed her cancer diagnosis and that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy in an emotional video message on Friday. There has been a global outpouring of support, including from King Charles, political figures and members of the public.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said on Saturday: “The prince and princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message. They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time."
