The government has announced a plan to refund depositors affected by crisis-hit cooperatives by setting up a fund under the National Cooperative Regulation Authority.
President Ramchandra Paudel shared this during the presentation of the government’s policy and programme for fiscal year 2025/26 in the federal parliament.
In the first phase, those with smaller deposits will be prioritized. The cooperative policy will also be reviewed, and a digital information system will be introduced for better record management.
Victims have been protesting delays in implementing previous year’s refund commitments.
